Värttinä on palannut! Suomalaisen musiikkiviennin edelläkävijä ja kansanmusiikin kruununjalokivi julkaisi uuden singlensä Igäne viime perjantaina!

”Ollaan vitsailtu keikkamatkoilla että eihän ikäihmiset enää jaksa sitä tai tätä ja silti samaan aikaan tehty 15 koulukeikkaa viikossa ja istuttu 2000 kilometria autossa.” Matti Laitinen kertoo kappaleen synnystä.

Igäne-single on ensimmäinen kaikumerkki Värttinän paluusta. Viime vuonna 40-vuotisjuhliaan viettänyt yhtye on yhtä täynnä samanlaista säpinää kuin aiemmin:

”Mari ja Karoliina tarttuivat yhdessä lähettämääni melodiaan ja he saivat tekstiin hauskan ajatuksen siitä, että kyllä me edelleen huumaannutaan musasta, tanssista ja laulusta ja vedetään ihan täysillä keikkoja ja tätä meidän ihanaa Värttinä-juttua, vaikka ei ollakaan enää ihan nuoria. Tässä musassa ja bändissä on yhä samaa vimmaa.” Matti jatkaa.

Värttinä is back! The pioneers of Finnish music export and the crown jewel of folk music have released their new single “Igäne” last Friday!

“We’ve joked during our tour trips that elderly people can’t handle this or that anymore, and yet at the same time, we’ve done 15 school gigs a week and sat in the car for 2000 kilometers,” Matti Laitinen says about the creation of the song.

The “Igäne” single is the first sign of Värttinä’s return. The band, which celebrated its 40th anniversary last year, is as full of the same energy as before:

“Mari and Karoliina took the melody I sent and came up with a fun idea for the lyrics, about how we still get high on music, dance, and singing, and give our all at gigs and in this wonderful Värttinä thing of ours, even though we’re not that young anymore. There’s still the same spirit in this music and band,” Matti continues.
