Ulla Pirttijärvi & Ulda performs modern Sámi music. The central idea behind their music is to engage in a musical dialogue between traditional Sámi culture and modern culture, as well as between the past and the present world.
Since 2009, the band has released two albums and performed in Finland, Sweden, Norway, USA, Germany, France, Austria, Russia, Estonia, and Greece. Ulda’s debut album Ulda was nominated for the 2012 Etno Emma award.
The band consists of Ulla Pirttijärvi (yoik), Marko Jouste (guitar), Pessi Jouste (violin), Elias Nieminen (drums), and Uula Jouste (bass and keyboards).
