Saarisalo is a Helsinki-based songwriter, producer, and artist known for her raw openness. Every emotion is felt, and nothing is left unsaid. Saarisalo embodies anger, sorrow, joy, and the bittersweetness of life.

The artist released her second album Mikä meitä vaivaa? in March of this year. The album draws influences from the rock and band sounds of the 2000s-2010s as well as classic pop aesthetics. It explores everything from collective trauma to personal life’s major screw-ups and mishaps, offering keen observations on our times in the 2020s. Saarisalo describes the album’s themes as follows:

“This album is a work about ugly feelings, false idols, crises, polarization, and the pressure to perform. It’s a snapshot of the 2020s, hopefully wrapped in a musically timeless package. Although these topics feel very heavy, there are also glimmers of hope on the album: beneath the sorrow, love always shines through.”
