Saura Booking Agency is a Helsinki-based live music agency founded in 2014, which has grown to become one of Finland’s most important world music export agencies. We act as a bridge between artists and international venues, handling concert bookings, tour production, international branding and marketing. Music connects people across borders, and we at Saura Booking Agency are dedicated to making that connection as strong and meaningful as possible. We also promote pop and folk artists touring our home turf.
The company’s founder and CEO Johanna Sauramäki acts as an agent, manager and visual designer, leading Saura Booking Agency with a strong vision and extensive experience in cultural event production. Saura Booking Agency has strong networks both in Finland and internationally, and we work closely with European record labels, performers, associations and other industry players.
Values and mission
We are guided by strong values: respect for the environment, preservation of traditions and equality between genders and generations. We believe in cultural diversity and work to ensure that Fenno-Ugric music and other Nordic traditions have the place they deserve on the international stage. We want to create sustainable opportunities for independent artists and help them grow globally.
What does Saura mean?
“Saura” is an archaic Finnish word meaning real and true. It also refers to the traditional Finnish grain drying rack where the hay bales rest crosswise. The word has been widely used in northern Finland and Lapland, and in the Saami language it means courage. In Egyptian, ‘saura’ means rebellion and revolution.
There is a common thread in all this: tradition, justice and change. At Saura Booking Agency, we believe that culture lives in time – it changes and evolves, but always with respect for its roots. Our mission is to be part of this movement, to support artists and to promote music that matters.
