Värttinä are the Crown Jewel of Finnish folk music scene. They are known for their razor-sharp harmonies and catchy melodies. The core element of their sound are their vocals, rooted in the Karelia Region of Finland and sung by the powerful leading ladies Susan Aho, Mari Kaasinen and Karoliina Kantelinen.

Värttinä celebrated their 40th anniversary in 2023, a testament to their status as both champions within the domestic folk music scene and trailblazers in Finnish music export. Since their international breakthrough in 1991, the group has traversed the globe, solidifying their reputation as one of the most inventive ensembles in the contemporary world music arena.
